Austrian Airlines opens Starlink on A320neo OE-LXF

Austrian Airlines put Starlink on a passenger line flight on Sept. 7. The jet was a new-build Airbus A320neo, tail OE-LXF. Austrian Wings ran the airline statement the same day: first official flight with Starlink active, Vienna to Porto. Flightradar24 logs that turn as OS491, departed Vienna 05:12 UTC, landed Porto 08:12 UTC.

Starlink on X said it is now delivering "fast, reliable connectivity onboard Austrian Airlines so passengers can stream, scroll, and surf effortlessly from 30,000 feet." The post did not name the tail, the route, or how many aircraft are online.

The airline statement, as published by Austrian Wings, sets a nearer target: 20 Austrian aircraft on Lufthansa Group WLAN powered by Starlink by the end of the 2026/27 winter schedule. The same copy says the live cabin product is free for Miles & More members and Travel ID users across travel classes.

OE-LXF is the first of six additional A320neos joining Austrian's short- and medium-haul fleet. Austrian Wings says another of those six, also fitted with Starlink, will fly soon. aeroTELEGRAPH reported the aircraft arrived in Vienna from Tallinn on Aug. 31 and was due in line service from Sept. 7. It is Austrian's first A320-family jet with Starlink and the airline's first A320neo on CFM Leap-1A engines. Austrian Wings notes the airframe had already flown a few days without Starlink before the Porto turn.

On Jan. 14, Austrian published the group plan: about 850 Lufthansa Group aircraft with Starlink by 2029, including Austrian's A320 family and Boeing 787s. That page lists free cabin internet for status customers, Travel ID users, and Miles & More members across travel classes. Lufthansa flew a first Starlink A320neo, D-AINM, Frankfurt to Rome on Aug. 19, according to Aerospace Global News.

Seatwifi still listed zero confirmed Austrian Starlink airframes on its Sept. 8 review.
